Solana Wallet Cleanup Guide 2026
A messy Solana wallet accumulates empty token accounts, spam airdrops, worthless NFTs, and locked SOL that you can't easily see. This guide covers everything you need to do a complete wallet cleanup — and get your locked SOL back in the process.
Why your Solana wallet gets cluttered
Every token you've ever received on Solana created an on-chain "token account." Sold the token? The account stays open. Got a spam airdrop? Account created. Minted an NFT you no longer own? Account still there. Each one holds 0.002 SOL in a rent deposit — and none of it is doing anything useful.
What a full wallet cleanup involves
1. Close vacant accounts (zero-balance)
These are the safest and most common. Token accounts with zero balance can be closed immediately. Each returns ~0.002 SOL to your wallet. Most users have dozens to hundreds of these.
2. Burn dust tokens
Tokens worth less than the transaction fee to sell them — junk airdrops, rugged memecoins — are "dust." Burning sends them to the Solana incinerator address, closes the account, and returns the rent deposit. Only burn tokens you are sure are worthless.
3. Burn unwanted NFTs
Same process as dust tokens. Spam NFTs, failed mint collections, test NFTs — burn them and reclaim the rent. Each NFT account holds about 0.002 SOL.
4. Process old liquidity pool positions (if applicable)
Old LP token accounts from Raydium, Orca, or other DEXes may also have reclaimable rent. Check these carefully before burning as some may still hold value.
